Washington Irving once said that a mother is the truest friend we have.
The Oklahoma Association of Mothers’ Clubs continues to prove that adage true through its nearly six decades of support for and commitment to OMRF.
At its annual banquet this month, the Mothers’ Clubs presented OMRF with a check for $1,756 to support various research programs for the 59th consecutive year. The Mothers’ Clubs have raised $131,962 overall for OMRF.
“We always look forward to our annual donation to OMRF. It is something we hold near and dear to our hearts,” said Mothers’ Clubs Treasurer Mandy Spaeth. “It really is an honor for us. We adopt OMRF as our recipient every year because we have so much faith in the work they are doing and how much they continue to grow.”
Their generous donations have supported a little bit of everything over the years, ranging from Alzheimer’s disease and cancer research to lab supplies and summer scholarships for state high school and college students.
“The Oklahoma Association of Mother’s Clubs is a truly loyal friend to OMRF. Their unique fundraising efforts and unwavering support of OMRF and medical research are incredibly admirable,” said OMRF Senior Development Associate Allison Coleman Parker. “We are thankful for their gifts and grateful for their annual convention, which is always great fun.”
Each year, chapters put on a wide range of fundraisers, including bake sales, golf tournaments, 5k runs and more, all with OMRF in mind.
