Art show to benefit Alzheimer’s research

August 24, 2010

Paseo’s In Your Eye Studio and Gallery will present “Memories,” an exhibit featuring works by Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation scientist Jordan Tang, Ph.D., and artist Sue Hale from Sept. 3-29. Proceeds from art sales will support Alzheimer’s research at OMRF.

Tang is an internationally recognized Alzheimer’s researcher as well as an artist. His artworks have been displayed in shows at the Norman Santa Fe Depot and the University of Central Oklahoma.

At OMRF, he has developed inhibitors to the enzyme believed responsible for Alzheimer’s disease, and an experimental drug based on his work is currently in human clinical trials. He is the only Oklahoman ever to receive the Alzheimer’s Association of America’s highest research prize, the $1 million Pioneer Award.

Hale is the former managing editor of The Oklahoman. She served as president of the Oklahoma chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association for six years.

The show will open on Friday, Sept. 3, at First Friday Walk on the Paseo from noon to 10:00 p.m. The gallery will be open in September on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from noon to 5:00 p.m.

Additional information is available at (405) 525-2161 or inyoureyegallery.com.
