Summer Programs

For decades, OMRF has trained the state’s best and brightest. OMRF’s high school and undergraduate Summer Scholar programs prepare Oklahoma’s most promising students for careers in research. By inspiring and empowering the next generation of scientists, OMRF continues to invest in the future of biomedical research – and the future of Oklahoma.

Sir Alexander Fleming Scholars Program

The Fleming Scholars program is open to Oklahoma high school seniors and undergraduate students – incoming freshmen through rising seniors
Students are paired with top-tier mentors for an eight-week experience designing, performing and presenting original research in areas including autoimmune diseases and aging to cancer biology and genetics.
Applications open Nov. 1 and are due Feb. 1, 2025

Langston Biomedical Research Scholars Program

The Langston Biomedical Program is open to LU students – rising sophomores through rising seniors
OMRF partnered with Langston University in an effort to expose Langston’s bright science students to career opportunities. Langston Scholars are paired with OMRF mentors during an eight-week, paid summer internship and have the option to continue their work throughout the school year.
Applications open Nov. 1 and are due Feb. 15, 2025

John H. Saxon Service Academy Summer Research Program

OMRF partners with United States military academies to provide hands-on laboratory experience to select cadets interested in biomedical research. Each summer, several military students are chosen to conduct a rigorous month of research at OMRF, concluding with a scientific seminar to share their findings.
Saxon Students are selected through their academies
