Children’s Diseases

Kids aren’t just small adults. Their needs are unique, and diseases can affect them differently. OMRF cell biologists are at work looking for the triggers that lead to problems in cell division that can cause birth defects like Down syndrome and even cancers. Immunologists are looking at a newly discovered cell that may trigger the onset of asthma, a debilitating condition that affects more than six million children in the U.S. alone.
