Rufei Lu, M.D., Ph.D., has joined the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation as an assistant professor in its Arthritis and Clinical Immunology Research Program.
This position marks a return for Lu, who conducted research at OMRF while earning his doctoral and medical degrees at the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine. He then completed a neuropathology fellowship at the University of California, San Francisco.
Lu uses cutting-edge technologies to investigate the progression and impact of autoimmune diseases like lupus.
“Dr. Lu’s lab works to understand the influences of autoimmunity on the brain and brain degeneration,” said OMRF Executive Vice President and Chief Medical Officer Judith James, M.D., Ph.D., who heads OMRF’s Arthritis and Clinical Immunology Research Program. “His research will synergize and advance ongoing OMRF science focused on finding better, earlier methods to diagnose diseases and creating more efficient, personalized treatments for patients.”
