The 25th annual Frank Wohl Memorial Bass Tournament will take place Sunday, Oct. 10, at Foss Lake.
The entry fee for the event is $100 per boat. A portion of the proceeds will go to contestants as prize money, and the remainder will go to support cancer research at the OMRF.
Since its inception in 1986, the tournament has raised more than $45,000 for cancer research at OMRF.
Wohl, a fishing enthusiast and businessman from Clinton, died in 1985 of cancer. The tournament was organized the following year to pay tribute to him and use his favorite pastime as a way to support research on the disease that claimed his life. Wohl’s daughter later died of cancer, and other members of his family also have been diagnosed with the disease.
“Instead of letting cancer get the best of them, the Wohls found a meaningful and personal way to fight it and get others involved, as well,” said OMRF Vice President of Development Penny Voss. “They’ve been terrific partners, and the funds they’ve raised will make a difference.”
Foss Lake is located seven miles north of Foss, Okla. Fishing begins at 6:30 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 10. An optional dinner will be held on Saturday, Oct. 9, at the Days Inn in Clinton, Okla., starting at 4:00 p.m.
