Keith and Linda’s Story

I have lunch with my wife everyday. Most days, she remembers who I am.

Your donations make OMRF’s lifesaving research possible.

Please give to OMRF today.

I met Linda when I was 6 years old. I mowed her family’s yard, and she eventually stole my heart. This past June, we celebrated our 60th wedding anniversary.

We shared a meal that day, just like we always do. I drive the four miles from the home we purchased together in 1975 to the memory care facility where she now lives. Two years ago, her Alzheimer’s progressed to the point where I could no longer take care of her. Today, she’s unable to walk, feed herself or even hold a conversation.

Linda was a nurse, and she devoted her life to caring for others. Together, we raised two children and traveled the world. She filled our home with art and music. She was the light of my life.

But before my very eyes, she’s vanished. It’s been the hardest thing I’ve ever gone through. And I know that soon, I’m going to lose her again.

When she was still Linda, we made the decision to donate to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation. We didn’t know those gifts would become so personal, helping OMRF scientists search for solutions to the very disease that would strike Linda.

Now, it means so much to me to know that researchers like Dr. Sarah Ocañas are investigating dementia in entirely new ways. Their work could lead to novel treatments. Or, better yet, it could one day prevent Alzheimer’s or one of the many other diseases they are investigating.

OMRF research helps us hold onto what matters most.

You and your loved ones deserve the future Linda should have had. Give today.
