Each year, OMRF brings more than $30 million to Oklahoma in the form of competitive research grants from out-of-state sources such as the National Institutes of Health. Those funds then seed additional economic activity in the state and create new jobs at OMRF. These are high-paying, intellectually rewarding positions with an average compensation level (including fringe benefits) in excess of $60,000. And each new job at OMRF generates another additional job in the state. An analysis prepared by a pair of the state’s leading economists found that OMRF has an annual impact on Oklahoma’s economy of $46 million and is responsible for more than 1,000 jobs in the state.
