OMRF is now accepting applications for its sixth annual Teen Leaders in Philanthropy class. Applications are due March 1.
This program offers high school sophomores, juniors and seniors a premier opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the nonprofit sector, develop hands-on leadership skills and learn about different types of giving. Experienced professionals will then instruct the students on how they can best implement these skills in their communities.
“We are trying to engage the next generation of philanthropists and to initiate a positive relationship with high-school-aged students to offer direction on how to be involved in their communities and ways to give back and make a difference,” said OMRF Development Associate Caroline Allen. “This is a unique opportunity to develop and sustain long-term relationships with like-minded people, gain useful skills and meet leaders from the nonprofit sector, charitable foundations, corporate donors and more.”
Up to 45 students are selected annually and must be entering their sophomore, junior or senior years of high school in the 2018-19 school year. The cost is free for students, and all expenses are covered by OMRF.
Group sessions will begin in September and continue throughout the 2018-19 school year. Students chosen for the program must demonstrate good academic standing and attend school in Oklahoma. For more information, visit omrf.org/teen-leaders.
