At the annual Oklahoma Professional Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists awards banquet on Saturday, OMRF won six top prizes for its public relations materials.
OMRF took first place in the public relations category for its magazine Findings, its annual report and year-end fundraising appeal, which sought donations for cancer research.
OMRF public relations specialist Greg Elwell won a pair of top prizes for writing—one for a story he wrote about an Oklahoman saved by an OMRF discovery and another for a press release detailing OMRF’s work combating swine flu. OMRF creative director Jenny Lee was also honored for best PR publication cover.
Journalists from two out-of-state SPJ chapters judged the contest’s entries. In addition to public relations, awards were also presented in the categories of newspaper, television, radio, magazine and online media.
