For the eighth consecutive time, OMRF has received the highest possible rating from Charity Navigator, the nation’s largest charity evaluator.
OMRF is one of only 16 organizations in Oklahoma to earn a 4-star rating on CharityNavigator.org. Of the 115 medical research organizations evaluated nationwide, OMRF ranked 6th overall.
“Only 1 percent of the charities we rate have received at least eight consecutive 4-star evaluations, indicating that Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation consistently executes its mission in a fiscally responsible way and outperforms most other charities in America,” said Ken Berger, President and CEO of Charity Navigator.
“We know there are a lot of competitors for donor dollars, especially in this financial climate,” said OMRF President Stephen Prescott, M.D. “Charity Navigator’s rating is one more guarantee that when people donate to OMRF, their gifts are going directly to fight against human disease.”
Using publicly available financial information, Charity Navigator promotes intelligent giving by providing report cards for U.S. and international charities. The nonprofit organization measures charities’ performance in seven categories: fund-raising efficiency, fund-raising expenses, program expenses, primary revenue growth, administrative expenses, program expense growth and working capital ratios. It then assigns each charity a score from zero to four stars.
“As the nonprofit sector continues to grow at an unprecedented pace, savvy donors are demanding more accountability, transparency and quantifiable results from the charities they choose to support with their hard-earned dollars,” said Charity Navigator’s Berger. “This ‘exceptional’ designation from Charity Navigator differentiates Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation from its peers and demonstrates to the public that it is worthy of their trust.”
