The Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation will celebrate its 60th birthday with a ‘60s-themed party at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 15, at the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum.
First Lady Kim Henry is chairing the planning committee for the event. Other committee members are Sandra Ayers, Shelly Blair, Connie Calvert, Barbara Cooper, Linda English, Jan Ralls Henry, Beth Kerr, Jennie Medbery, Laura Ogle, James Pickel and Jim Vallion.
The 60th birthday party, which will feature live music, will be a playful salute to OMRF’s heritage and will offer a chance to win a diamond valued at $20,000. Proceeds from the event will go to support research at the foundation. Scientists focus on such critical research areas as Alzheimer’s disease, cancer, lupus and cardiovascular disease.
OMRF was established in 1946 by a group of graduates from the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine. With the help of hundreds of thousands of generous Oklahomans, OMRF today has become one of the nation’s leading biomedical research institutes, employing more than 500 staff members, including some of the world’s foremost immunologists and cardiovascular biologists.
Tickets to OMRF’s 60th birthday are available at two price levels: $160 and $600. The $600 ticket includes an entry into a drawing for a chance to win a 2-karat diamond, sponsored by B.C. Clark Jewelers. Table sponsorships at $6,000, $15,000 and $30,000 levels also remain available.
