OMRF Marks First Year Anniversary of Fundraising Campaign Foundation raises over $63 million of $100 million goal

November 14, 2000

Oklahoma City, OK – At a luncheon thanking donors for their generous support, Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation President J. Donald Capra announced that more than $63 million had been raised in the first year of the “For the Future of Medical Research” campaign. Launched November 10, 1999, the five year campaign seeks to raise $100 million in capital and endowment funds for OMRF.

“In one year, we have raised more than sixty percent of our goal,” said Capra. “Not only is this a tremendous accomplishment for OMRF, but it also underscores the generosity of Oklahoma’s citizens and philanthropic organizations.”

Capra also noted that in the past year, 13,530 individuals gave 27,532 gifts. “Each year, Oklahomans contribute more than $700,000 to honor family and friends through OMRF’s Memorials Program. OMRF was built by charitable individuals, and every dollar raised from these men and women directly supports medical research, not overhead.”

When the campaign officially began last year, OMRF received $41.6 million in gifts or pledges from the Samuel Roberts Noble Foundation, Chapman Trusts, Putnam City School District’s Chair in Cancer Research, and the Gaylord Family. Since the campaign’s kick-off, the following major gifts have been received. The intent of the gift, and when available, the dollar amount, are as follows:
