My Research
Cristina Arriens, M.D., MSCS, is an adult rheumatologist who completed medical school, rheumatology fellowship, and her Master of Science in Clinical Science degrees at The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas. She completed her internal medicine residency training at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Dr. Arriens came to Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation in July of 2015, with a focus on lupus and lupus nephritis. In her lupus–focused clinic at OMRF she cares for amazing patients who have inspired her clinical and translational research. She has been a site Principal Investigator in over 50 lupus and lupus nephritis clinical trials. She has helped grow the lupus cohort and she started the lupus nephritis cohort at OMRF. Dr. Arriens is a major contributor of clinical data and lupus disease activity assessments for the lupus cohort, a vital part of OMRF lupus translational research studies. As a key opinion leader in the areas of lupus and lupus nephritis she has served on advisory boards, clinical trial steering committees, and protocol reviewgroups. Beyond a desire to increase the available therapeutics for lupus, she would like to clarify therapy selection – tapping into the formidable scientific resources at OMRF with the goal of the right therapies for the right patients and at the right times.
