The Research Forum is comprised of Endowed and Distinguished Lectures. The Endowed Lectures are more limited, provide a larger honorarium, and are usually reserved for major prize winners (Nobel, Lasker, etc), National Academy members, and Department Chairs. Faculty members are invited to nominate a speaker by filling out a Nomination Form which will need to be sent to the RF Committee. We also reserve one seminar each year for a speaker nominated by the Graduate Students and another by the Postdoctoral Fellows.
The Research Forum Committee needs to receive candidate nominations early (usually by mid-March of the preceding academic year) in order to allocate the invitations fairly and to allow for optimal scheduling and travel plans.
To facilitate the nominating process, the committee will need information about the speaker such as:
- Contact information:
- current address
- email address
- phone numbers
- website
- Career highlights
- Research interests
- List of significant publications in the last three years
This may be entered on the Nomination Form which will be emailed automatically to the Committee.
Once your nomination is approved, Shelli-Wasson@omrf.org 271-6673 will email you with details about the invitation procedure. In particular, if your guest is coming from abroad, please begin early as there are new document requirements from the IRS which may need to be filed to prevent tax withholding from the honorarium.
Please consult with Shelli or myself if you have any questions or require further assistance.
