Although my general interest is the biochemistry of naturally occurring conjugated proteins, most of my research activities have been centered around chemical, metabolic and pathophysiologic properties of human plasma lipoproteins. During recent years, these studies have been mainly concerned with the atherogenic potentials of triglyceride-rich and cholesterol-rich apoB-containing lipoproteins, their concentrations in primary and secondary hyperlipoproteinemias and their specific response to various therapeutic interventions. All these studies are based on the concept that apolipoprotein-defined lipoprotein subclasses are the fundamental chemical and metabolic entities of the lipid transport system.
